The Secretary of State Steve Reed announced that a new round of Capital Grants is now open. This round offers £150 million to farmers, land managers, and rural businesses in England. The money will help fund practical environmental improvements.
What the Capital Grants cover
You can use the grants for many types of work, including:
- Planting hedgerows.
- Managing field boundaries.
- Improving water and air quality.
- Restoring natural habitats.
- Adding natural flood management features.
These actions bring long-term benefits. They help cut pollution and make the environment stronger and more stable.
Who can apply and what’s new
The offer is for people who manage land and want to:
- Boost biodiversity.
- Protect natural resources.
- Improve the landscape.
For example, farmers can apply for money to plant hedgerows that support wildlife. They can also get funding for new livestock equipment that helps keep water clean.
You can use the grants on their own. Or you can add them to existing agreements under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), Countryside Stewardship (CS), or Higher Level Stewardship (HLS).
The government is making changes to the scheme. These changes will make it fairer and easier to access. More farm businesses will be able to get support.
This improved offer is part of the government’s New Deal for Farmers. The goal is to help farms grow and become profitable again.
